Ubud Botanical Gardens
A new botanical gardens has opened in Ubud. The gardens, situated in the village of Kutuh Kaja are just 1.2km from Ubud town center and faces the Bird Village of Petulu.
Founded by Stefan Reisner, a German living in Bali and Faizah, originally from East Java, the gardens are privately funded and built on land leased from local villagers for 30 years with the hope that local villagers will see the value of the park and preserve its legacy.
Their mission is to bring visitors in direct contact with Bali???s colours and aromas, smells, natural patterns and structures. Their garden architect, John Pettigrew, is even talking about a garden for the blind where the sensual experience will be a completely different one.
The Botanic Garden offers a range of micro-climates including ravine, hillside, meadow, a river, waterfalls and natural forest. Enjoy themed areas such as The Great Fountain, The Fern Garden, The Chocolate Grove, The Heliconia Hill, The Fragrant Floors, The Meditation Court with Ancient Banyan Tree, The Bamboo Grove The Titan/ Rafflesia, The 3 Orchids Houses, The Water Lily Pond The Herbal Garden, The Rain Forest Observation Post, The Bromeliad Garden, The Maze ( Labyrinth ), The Palm Hill, The Indonesian Orchard, The Islam Garden, The Succulent Garden / Dragon Fruit, and The Alang Alang Trail.
